How to write a useful surgery experience
A guide for patients who want to help others without exposing private medical information or making unsafe claims.
Focus on useful details
Good patient stories help families know what to ask. They should be factual, calm, and specific.
- Surgery type and city
- What was explained clearly?
- Where was there confusion?
- Billing estimate versus final range
- Discharge instructions and follow-up
Avoid unsafe posting
Do not publish medical documents, phone numbers, personal attacks, or unverified accusations. If there is a serious legal issue, use proper legal/medical grievance channels.
Please read: This page is general patient education, not medical advice.
It cannot tell you whether you personally need surgery, because that depends on your examination, your
reports and your medical history. Use it to prepare questions for your own doctor. Never delay treatment
your doctor has advised because of something you read here. In an emergency, call your local emergency
number now — 112 in India, the EU and many other countries, or 108 for an ambulance in India.
Notes from patients and verified doctors
Every note is read by a moderator before it appears. Please do not name any hospital, doctor or staff member, do not post prescriptions or dosages, and do not upload bills or reports here. Write what you learned, what you wish you had asked, or what confused you — that is what helps the next patient.
